Jon Mabry, Vice President of Disaster Recovery, is a highly experienced and certified internal auditor with a career spanning 30 years. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in managing complex projects and large funding amounts in both the private and public sectors. His leadership in major recovery programs in Mississippi, New York, Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, and Puerto Rico has established him as a leader in the disaster recovery field.

A former Marine, Jon’s career is marked by excellence and innovation. In 2008, he was appointed by Governor Haley Barbour to administer over $5.4 billion in grant funds for Mississippi’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina. Under his “management by the numbers” leadership, Mississippi’s recovery effort was lauded for its efficiency and effectiveness, with more than 40,000 homes constructed, rehabilitated, or financed and over 200 public infrastructure projects completed.

Jon oversaw the execution of the most extensive disaster housing recovery program in the United States, where he managed $1.3 billion in federal funds in Louisiana for the State’s Restore Louisiana Homeowner Assistance Program. This program broke new ground in delivery speed and scale, aiding tens of thousands of survivors of the 2016 Great Floods.

Previously, Jon managed the Hurricane Sandy housing recovery program for the State of New York, known as New York Rising, operating housing intake centers and managing over 200 customer service representatives. Through this program, IEM distributed nearly $1 billion in funds to over 11,000 homeowners. Under his guidance, the New York Rising program achieved an accuracy rate of 98.7% and generated substantial cost savings.

Before joining IEM, Jon’s career included directorial internal audit and business development roles at several Fortune 10 companies. A University of Maryland alumnus, his experience extends to his time at Alltel and GTE, where he managed critical communication systems, including the President’s “red telephone” at the Pentagon. His military discipline, private sector acumen, and public sector management skills make him invaluable in disaster recovery and housing program management.
