Energy efficiency is crucial for ensuring the future of communities and infrastructure. In addition to enhancing communities’ financial security through efficiency upgrades and deployment of localized energy resources, the adoption of distributed energy resources can serve as an attractive model for future capital investment and community resilience.

What we do

IEM works with clients to design, implement, and maintain tailored, holistic, and meaningful strategies that enable communities to deploy energy-efficient programs and build community resilience. For 40 years, we have supported the development of affordable housing programs and assisted in navigating federal funding regulations to assist those most in need.

We examine how Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) –  photovoltaic (PV) solar power, battery systems, and other grid-enhancing technologies – could help create opportunities to increase economic and infrastructure resiliency. Our work with these technologies has helped communities prepare for and recover faster from major incidents.

IEM offers a comprehensive suite of project management services to support solar energy project deployment, including feasibility and analysis, GIS modeling and mapping, site design, and energy resource modeling.

With extensive experience in program design, federal funds management, stakeholder engagement, and outreach, IEM is a vital partner in optimizing U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funds to enhance energy efficiency and clean energy for communities. IEM supports clients throughout the program life cycle from application management and rebate processing to closeout and auditing.
