Sean Fontenot serves as IEM’s Director of Air, Transportation, and Logistics (ATL). With IEM for over two decades, he has 35 years of experience in emergency, crisis, and disaster management. Prior to working for IEM. He served as the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness as the Preparedness Division Chief.
As the ATL Director, he leads a team of experienced air planners and transportation and logistics professionals serving state, local, tribal, and federal clients. During his career, he has managed numerous statewide disaster response and recovery initiatives and catastrophic planning projects, including the FEMA National Air Ops, Arizona Capabilities Assessment and Gap Analysis, and the New Jersey Non-Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Catastrophic Planning project.
Sean has managed multiple international and regional risk assessments and capability analyses as well as established strategic plans and the design of a regional emergency management center utilizing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, the UNDRR Regional Assessment Report on disaster risk reduction in the Arab Region, the United Nations Hyogo Framework for Action, and the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Centers of Excellence (CoE) Risk Management Initiative.
