Within my almost 14 years at IEM, I’ve learned so much about what it takes before and after any type of disaster or emergency.

Where do you think IEM will be in the next 40 years?

Our core mission over the next 40 years will not be any different from the last 40 years. Since 1985, IEM’s focus has been to improve disaster preparedness, response, and recovery from man-made or natural disasters. These improvements help government agencies and the private sector in their decision-making, which increases efficiency and saves lives.
What does IEM mean to you personally?

Within my almost 14 years at IEM, I’ve learned so much about what it takes before and after any type of disaster or emergency. I’m proud to have a small part in helping improve efficiencies in that recovery process, and it’s gratifying to know I am helping communities and people through my role while working at IEM.

What excites you most about the future of IEM?

What excites me most is how we continue to evolve while staying grounded in our core mission. We’re expanding into new technologies, new partnerships, and new ways of supporting our clients—and doing so with the same level of integrity and excellence that has defined the company for 40 years.
What specific stories or examples of IEM making a difference do you remember?
Can you share funny inspiring, or memorable team moments?

It’s hard to choose just one, but some of the most memorable moments are the subtle ones—late nights working on a proposal or a deliverable, where the teamwork, the laughter, and the shared sense of mission turn a challenge into great memories. Our people make IEM what it is.

What does IEM mean to you personally?

This year I will celebrate 19 years at IEM. This company has given me so many opportunities to grow personally and professionally and to support jurisdictions and individuals across the country (and beyond!) that I never imagined I would have.

I started out as an editor on the team in 2006 and since then, it has been a non-stop parade of new, incredibly rewarding experiences, from deploying to New Orleans for Hurricane Gustav in 2008 to spending a year and a half in New York in support of Superstorm Sandy response to providing geospatial support for various projects from California to Puerto Rico.

I have had the privilege of working with some of the smartest, most dedicated individuals I’ve ever met. Learning from them, watching them develop their own skills, and producing amazing results for our customers along the way has been a truly gratifying experience. I can honestly say that I would not be the person I am without my experiences at IEM, and I look forward to the next 19 years.
