IEM Awarded Contract to Perform Long-Term Hurricane Matthew Recovery Across North Carolina

IEM to Begin Providing Services June 15^th, 2019, Commits to Delivering Same World-Class Recovery Service Provided Across the Nation to Survivors Located in Firm’s Home State

RESEARCH TRIANGLE, NC June 20^th, 2018 – Today, IEM International, Inc. announced that the North Carolina Department of Public Safety selected the nationally-recognized disaster recovery firm to deliver housing services in support of North Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program. Hurricane Matthew struck North Carolina on October 9^th, 2016 and IEM’s contract support for long-term, permanent housing began on June 15^th, 2018.

IEM’s contract with North Carolina covers program management, training, intake operations for program participants, environmental assessments, and construction management. In support of communities affected by Hurricane Matthew, IEM will hire case managers and skilled trades people who reside in local communities that were impacted by the storm.

CDBG-DR funds are appropriated by Congress and administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help cities, counties, and states recover from Presidentially declared disasters, especially in low-income areas. HUD awards CDBG-DR funds to state and local governments which become grantees. The grantees then funnel the funds to state agencies, non-profit organizations, economic development agencies, citizens and businesses for restoring homes, businesses and infrastructure. IEM’s role is to assist the State in managing the process so that it delivers housing support fast and in full compliance with HUD regulations.
