With over two decades of rich experience in accounting and auditing, Michelle Croney is a testament to dedication and expertise in her field. Michelle received her bachelor’s degree from Nicholls State University and began her career at a large utility company as an accountant, quickly demonstrating her prowess in financial management. Her role involved critical tasks like Sarbanes-Oxley Act quarterly testing and resolving long-standing account reconciliation issues. This foundational experience laid the groundwork for her impressive journey in the financial sector.

Michelle’s career trajectory significantly changed when she joined a large accounting firm as an auditor, where she honed her skills in auditing state programs and consulting for small businesses and governmental entities. She played a pivotal role in compiling financial statements and ensuring compliance with the stringent standards of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Her keen eye for detail and thoroughness underscored her commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

In 2005, Michelle embarked on a long-standing career with IEM, where her career flourished through various roles, showcasing her versatility and leadership. As a financial analyst, she laid the groundwork for robust financial practices within the organization. Her promotion to management further solidified her position as a critical player in the company, where she introduced improvements in finance and accounting operations. Her exceptional performance in these roles led to her current position as Controller.

As Controller, Michelle exercises meticulous oversight over financial and regulatory reporting. She ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and federal and state regulations, reflecting her deep understanding of the economic landscape. Her expertise extends to working with audit organizations, guaranteeing timely and flawless audits, and administrating enterprise financial software programs. Her commitment to enhancing business processes and training personnel demonstrates her dedication not just to her role but also to the growth and development of her team.

Michelle’s expertise is not just limited to internal operations. She has played a crucial role in overseeing the disbursement and tracking of grant funds for significant programs. Her ability to coordinate and support comprehensive audits for multi-billion-dollar programs speaks to her exceptional organizational and analytical skills. Moreover, her experience as an auditor for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act showcases her versatility and ability to adapt to diverse financial environments.
