IEM knows crisis management.
With nearly 40 years of experience managing and responding to unprecedented events, IEM has the expertise, innovative strategies, and tools to respond to crises, overcome disruptions and help communities build back stronger. Whether a disaster, pandemic, homeland security threat, or community risk, IEM ensures rapid response and recovery to increase resilience and mitigate the impact of future events.
Emergency Management
IEM is a national leader in emergency management and disaster response. We integrate science and technology to generate innovative solutions for our clients and help them to quickly and resiliently recover. Our emergency management experts, former state, local and federal leaders, are equipped to respond to emergencies at all levels. We are skilled in emergency planning and policy development, emergency operations, critical infrastructure mitigation, continuity of operations/continuity of government (COOP/COG), mass care planning, strategy and execution, disaster housing and sheltering, and evacuation planning.
Disaster Recovery
IEM plans recovery before disaster. As disasters become more frequent and severe, IEM works to build resilience and strategically mitigate their effects. Our disaster recovery experts identify how to better protect property, build communities back stronger, and save lives in the event of a disaster. Early in recovery we work with states and localities on disaster housing solutions and individual assistance. We are leaders in the use of hazard mitigation funding and are committed to helping obtain disaster recovery funds to increase community resilience. Following Hurricane Sandy and Tropical Storms Irene and Lee, IEM managed New York State’s $1.2 billion Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG–DR) Housing recovery program to repair, rebuild, and elevate damaged homes. IEM achieved an overall 98.7 accuracy rate in distributing $902 million in CDBG-DR funds to over 11,000 homeowners.
Public Health
IEM provides data-driven, evidence-based solutions to help respond to public health crises. We supported COVID-19 response efforts at the state, local, and national levels for the pandemic beginning in early 2020. Our team of epidemiologists, scientists, medical researchers, and medical response planners work with governments and organizations to prepare for and respond to medical emergencies. For over 20 years, IEM has supported the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and their planning and medical countermeasures requirements. IEM leveraged its support to HHS to respond to the coronavirus pandemic and fight on the frontlines to provide critical AI-modeling projections on COVID-19 case numbers. In addition, we worked with states and other jurisdictions to bolster their contact tracing and testing capabilities, and manage mass vaccination, antibody infusion and alternate care sites across the nation. Homeland Security
Technology is at the forefront of creating a secure and protected nation. At IEM, we continuously expand our technological tools and capabilities to respond to the evolving landscape of homeland security. Our services prioritize community preparedness and resilience-building to help our Nation and its communities increase their capacity to prepare for, prevent, and respond to domestic threats and emergencies. IEM’s technology is designed to allow clients to identify and address real threats to build resilience and save lives.
