Preparedness

Emergency responders, managers, and decision makers must have the right training, tools, capabilities, and knowledge to effectively prepare for and respond to disasters.

IEM’s hands-on training and exercises are designed to help emergency personnel pinpoint necessary changes to current plans, procedures, policies, training, and equipment to improve preparedness capabilities.

IEM exercises are consistent and compliant with the DHS Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), fulfill requirements for FEMA grant funding, and are aligned with all current national initiatives and polices. We offer exercises that build capabilities for all hazards and we have quickly adapted to a variety of scenarios and incidents, including recent events or newly-discovered threats.

Our exercises are tailored to address participants’ and jurisdictions’ unique needs and concerns to ensure they are realistic and effective in testing personnel, plans, and capabilities. IEM’s exercise program applies a performance-based methodology that results in an objective assessment of preparedness and provides specific recommendations for improvement. It is carefully structured to increase an agency’s or jurisdiction’s capability to mitigate, prevent, respond to, and recover from a disaster, and most importantly, save lives.
